Curriculum

As a double medium school we strive to unite English and Afrikaans speaking learners in a close community where the language and culture of both groups are respected and promoted.

Academic Division
Grade R Pre-primary
Foundation Phase Grade 1 to 3
Intermediate Phase Grade 4 to 6
Senior Phase Grade 7 to 9
FET Grade 10 to12

The standard of work is equal to that of mainstream schools.  At the end of grade 12 the learners of Jan Kriel School also write the National Senior Certificate Examination.

Grade R- tot 2-learners may go home at 13:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Learners in grade 3 follows the program as the rest of the school.

Text and Exercise Books

Foundation Phase: 
Exercise books are provided.  Parents pay a fee at the beginning of the year.

Intermediate Phase: 
Parents pay a fee at the beginning of the year for text books, notes and worksheets.

High School: 
The first set of exercise books is supplied free of charge.  Parents rent the prescribed text books from the school.  At the beginning of the year parents pay a fee for additional notes.
